The federal government of Nigerian don change four college of education to Universities the schools na: Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo
(now Adeyemi University of Education, Ondo);
Federal College of Education, Zaria (now Federal University of Education, Zaria);
Federal College of Education, Kano (now Federal University of
Education, Kano);and Alvan Ikoku College of
Education, Owerri (now Alvan Ikoku University of Education, Owerri).
The reason na so that many graduates go become teachers. Minister of Education Ibrahim Shekaru yarn say dem don give the schools the power to dey offer courses for Medicine and science  and this change go cause wetin dem call administrative changes. This one na so that the former colleges of education go function now as proper university.
